This is a restaurant we have been wanting to visit for a while. We finally did. Shadowbrook is located next to the Soquel Creek in Capitola CA. It has a beautiful hillside that has beautiful landscape and a small cable car that can offer a ride up or down the hillside to the restaurant entrance. Shadowbrook has outside seating next to the peaceful creek perfect for a romantic dinner. Inside it has multiple dining rooms to accommodate anyone needs. The food was delicious! Luci had the grilled salmon, I had a few bites and it was buttery delicious. My dish was the blackened lamb. I loved the muffin like bread that you will see on my plate. It was a mushroom and cheese bread. That lil thing is packed with flavor! I just could get enough of it. The blackened lamb was perfectly plated on a cherry sauce the mushroom bread enhanced the flavor as it was a bit buttery but also had salty notes which makes everything stand out and balanced the palate really well. The cocktails did not disapoint either. Elijah was our server, he provided us good advice about each dish and provided us great service. The Jack Daniel's mud pie dessert is delicious as well! I strongly recommend this restaurant, great service, delicious food and being next to the creek is definitely amazing!

Amazing experience. We got there well before our reservation and had drinks at the beautiful bar, then we got seated in the greenhouse room with a great view of the inlet waterway. The waitress was very knowledgeable and made wine pairing recs for our meals. The food was a perfect portion and we took our desert to go. We stayed close enough (Monarch Cove Inn) that they provided a free taxi service is an old 40s/50s taxi cab and the driver was very nice and gave us tips on walking the grounds when we got there. We took the "Hillevator" down, but walked back through the gardens after dinner. For where this is, the prices were not bad at all, and will definitely go again.

If you're looking for a romantic date night spot, Shadowbrook is the PERFECT spot! I fell in love with every aspect of this restaurant. Before you arrive, there's a guest parking lot or you can take their complimentary taxi cab to the restaurant, as long as you're within a 3 mile radius. The view from the top is stunning! There's so much greenery all around and the cable car is such a cute touch. I arrived around golden hour so the lighting was perfect! Don't forget to dress to impress because you'll want to get photos here. We took the cable car down to the restaurant where we had to wait 10 minutes before getting seated on the bottom floor. The hostess explained to us that the restaurant used to be an old cabin! We ordered the salmon and the slow-roasted and blacked prime rib. The salmon was good, but there was a slight kick from the wasabi. The prime rib was delicious and not overly priced. I couldn't recommend this restaurant enough for a special occasion. It's so charming! I can't wait to come back!

Now let me just tell you - this spot is something else. The place is amazing. A maze of different dining spaces layered down the side of the hill until you hit the river. The place has a story, history and soul. The staff is insanely nice. Everyone. Literally everyone was super helpful, kind. Our server Alex was great. Only been there 3 months but a pro and the manager has been there since 1999. So I guess now for the food. It's terrible. Ha. Just kidding. It's delicious. We got the baked Brie which was delicious. The jalapeño jam looked a little radioactive but they didn't charge extra for that so I was good with it ;-). The flavor was great. We also ordered fried artichoke hearts, artichoke soup and both were delicious. For main course I got the butchers filet. So tender. Perfectly cooked. My wife ordered the gnocchi with mushroom and truffle which was also very good. Not as good as my dish. Only complaint is both mains arrived a little cold. Warm. Wish they were hot. Other than that place is fantastic.

We came here for our anniversary and booked an overnight at an Bnb nearby. We had heard great things about Shadowbrook so the expectations were high. For the full experiece, we took the Shadowbrook cab from our Bnb. It was a 1950 Ford - how cool was that! From the top, you take a funicular down (or you can walk - its about 3 stories) which took about 20 minutes, so were a little late for our reservation. Seated right away. The restaurant is huge. It has this outside-in decor of faux wood. Great ambience. We had the clam chowder, fried arichokes, prime rib, sirloin steak and the special dessert. The arichokes were small and didnt have much arichoke meat. Disappointing. The clam chowder had lots of clam and tasted great, Very good. Both the prime rib and sirloin were cooked perfectly, nice and tender. Excellent. The dessert and coffee was a great end to meal. Since it was our anniversary our server Emily brought us some truffles with candles. A nice touch. For a fancy restaurant the prices were reasonable. Our server Emily was fantastic! Its not a place you come to often, more of a special occasion place. We will definitley be back.

The scenic views, cable car, and different sections of the restaurant indoor or outdoor lends a very social occasion experience at Shadowbrook. Being an early summer weekend, there were quite a few graduates celebrating their entry to adulthood with their family and friends in their cap and gowns. There were other tables celebrating anniversaries, and others a long needed catch up with other friends. The cable car is definitely a highlight, fits 6 at most and no crack of a window so beware for those who might feel confined in a small space. It moves quite slow, but steady for a steep decline/ascent. There is also a scenic route up/down walking through the tree and manicured garden for those in healthier shape. The food is okay, nothing spectacular or memorable in my opinion. Foodies will probably be disappointed. You're really here for the experience and the ambiance.
